Romance is in the air with the gorgeous quilt. Lovely way to use those special fabric scraps—soft and pale fabrics with a hint of a stronger antique look added to the mix. Fussy cutting to make several small and larger rosettes, and use diamond shapes to form star hexagons ready to appliqué. The quilt is made up of four squares and eight triangles., divided with the 3½” sashings and a wide border to finish the top. The original coverlet was made in 1830 on the Drayton Hall Estate—a rice plantation in South Carolina by several slaves, one noted to be Elizabeth Keckley.
